What's New: Holiday Gifts {bella blvd}

Yesterday on the Bella Blvd blog, we shared projects that used the latest and greatest product from Bella Blvd and holiday gift giving ideas. This is the Christmas Countdown Collection and it was perfect for this little sleigh and card that I made — I just love the bright colors and whimsical patterns.

I did use cut files from the Silhouette store to cut the sleigh, the boxes and all of the ribbons. You can find the links to those below in the supply list.  

My idea in creating this is that it would be a perfect way to give a few small gifts. Wouldn't it be great to open each tiny box and inside find a perfect trinket just for you? Once the gifts were opened, the sleigh and boxes could be displayed with the rest of the holiday decor. 

I also love the idea of a tiny card to go with the tiny sleigh and gifts. A few layers of stickers and a bow make this simple card extra festive.

Gift box challenge {lily bee}

Today is challenge day at the Lily Bee blog, and it is also a week for thinking about holiday gifts and gift giving. So, my challenge to you is to make at least one gift box this season. 

It is so easy to buy a box for (or just bag) your gifts, that sometimes we forget to go a little further and really customize the presentation of the gift.

Here is my sample gift box for you using the We R Family collection from Lily Bee. It isn't a holiday-themed collection, but by using symbols of the season (like the buck), you can achieve the look without the santas and snowmen.

I was able to use my Cameo to cut all of these pieces (the buck, the tag, the bow and the box), but you could very easily find a box trace-and-cut template online even if you don't have a digital cutter. Plus, a real ribbon would do just fine!

So, there's my challenge to you this week: Make at least one of your gift boxes this season. You'll be so happy you customized the gift, you make like it even better than the present.

Card sketch {scrapbook circle}

It's that time of year! I just love the holidays — especially holiday cards. For the sketch challenge this month at Scrapbook Circle, I made it easy for you with a card sketch. This month is busy enough, but most of us need at least one holiday card to give.

Pinterest inspiration {bella blvd}

Today on the Bella Blvd blog we are sharing projects inspired by this fabulous star garland Pinterest-found image. Stop by the Bella Blvd blog to see what some of us on the team came up with.

I made two different cards using the stars idea.

I was inspired by the stars in the image to make a star-filled ornament. I love the look of the Christmas paper peeking our from behind the little stars.

A simple, but sparkly, sentiment leaves the focus on the star ornament.

Supplies: Christmas Countdown (Pattern paper: Christmas, Borders)

I used my Silhouette Cameo to make a pattern of stars hanging on a garland using dashed lines between the stars. Different pattern papers peek out from behind the star cutouts, except for three red stars that are popped up off the front of the card.

A fun Merry Merry Merry speech bubble adds the sentiment to the front.

Holiday scene card {samantha walker}

Yesterday on the Samantha Walker blog I shared a tutorial on how to cut and assemble this tri-fold holiday scene card. This card is so fun to make, and the cut file is available in the Silhouette online store. 

To get the snow fall effect, I used embossing paste brushed through a Falling Snow stencil I got from Simon Says Stamp. It dries really fast and has a great texture to it — the perfect medium for snow! Enamel dots are the finishing touch on the trees.

Counting Down to Christmas {imaginisce}

It's December, and that means Imaginisce is counting down to the Christmas holiday. Each designer on the team is taking a day all to themselves to show off inspiring holiday projects to get you in the mood to start humming those holiday songs (if you haven't been already!).

I used the brand new Colors of Christmas collection from Imaginisce to alter this frame and glass jar. The colors of this collection go perfectly with the decorations in my house, so I love how these turned out. 

This frame was easy to altered. I took out the glass in the front of the frame and then made a little display of layered die cuts and sticker stackers. 

For the jar, I cut a few pieces of patterned paper to first decorate the jar, then I added the dimension to the front of the jar with die cuts and a sticker stacker. A touch of bling makes this jar sparkle! The old fashioned candy canes seemed like the perfect touch. Tied off with a ribbon from May Arts, and this gift is ready to go. 

Not ready to part with it? It would make a great little addition to a holiday display, too.

All is Bright {scrapbook circle}

I love December kits! Especially the December kits from Scrapbook Circle. This year's All is Bright kit is a wonderful mix of classic and trendy holiday papers and embellishments. Custom stamps and 3x4 cards from Scrapbook Circle round out the awesomeness!

I made two layouts and a card within the first 48 hours of the kit landing on my doorstep — I couldn't help myself!

For this first layout, I just had to use the blue, red and stars transparency that are in the kit. These are by far my favorites for the holiday season — the color scheme and the stars with the dots. 

I had to cut one of the deer form the pattern paper — too cute!
