who's that girl - distinguishing features

I went digi for this one! I love so many of the digital kits that are available right now. This sublime background paper is from Kenner Road. How could you not love that pattern?! The rest of the page is made with a bunch of freebies I have acquired from multiple sites.

This page is for the Who's That Girl challenge #6 - Distinguishing Features. What makes you stand out? What is YOUR thing? I chose my eyes.

I often get comments on my eyes, but then I had trouble finding a picture of my eyes. I think I look kind of snarky in this picture I used, but my eyes were kind of popping, so that's why I used it. So, don't laugh at me for smirking at you all... :)

My eyes are very blue and get even more blue depending on the colors I wear. My favorite compliment was when an older Italian gentlemen complimented my eyes in Italian and I had no idea what he was saying to me.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today! I hope to see some of you linking up your features pages on the Who's That Girl site. We'd love to see what you make!

easter bunny is hopping into town

Yay!! I love Easter! Good food. Time with family. And, of course, the expectation to eat candy for breakfast!!

Nate had his first visit with the Easter Bunny this year. The years before we never went or the line was too long. Nate was surprised that the Easter Bunny doesn't talk, but other than that, he was fine with it all.

This page was made with the Scrapbook Circle April kit. Seriously, this kit is AMAZING! I was thrown by all of the pastel colors at first, since I make mostly boy pages, but with it being spring, everything just fell together so easily.

I am always looking for inspiration to help me put pages together, so here are the credits for the inspiration and places you can play along with, too:
• BlueMoon Scrapbooking: Paper cutting challenge
• Design Dollies: This sketch here from the wonderous Kristy
Scrapfreak Birthday Bash Crop challenge: Stitching Technique challenge

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! I truly appreciate everyone who stops by here!!

yummy dark cherry mocha

The new Dark Cherry Mocha from Starbucks is so good! So, so good! :) With this page, I'm playing along with a few different challenges.
These are a Few of My Favorite Things wants to see your Favorite Drink.
Scrapfreak Friday's Challenge wants to see your "Indulgence."
• And The Studio wants to see buttons and bows.

Plus, this page was just so much fun to make. The cherry stamp was in the March kit for Studio Calico. I love how I was able to use it to make a pattern at the bottom of the page. A cherry pattern for a cherry drink, yum!

The journaling says, "The sign said 'Do you want' & I said 'Yes!' Oh yes I do!" And literally that is how I stumbled upon this new favorite drink of mine!

my boys

Hi there! Hope your Saturday is going well. This page is one of my latest favorites. The picture was taken this past week on my husband's only day off this week. We went to a local place called Taste of Texas for dinner. It is in an old bar and the specialty is called The Outlaw. A GIANT baked potato loaded with everything you would expect in a baked potato and then also a meat of your choice. I get the shredded chicken and hubby gets the pulled pork. It is so good!!

Most of the materials for this page came in my April kit for Scrapbook Circle... it is a good one! I added the stamp and the Hambly stitches rub-ons. The sketch is from the Studio Calico Sunday Sketches challenge from this past Sunday. Due today if you'd like to play along! I also used the prompt Just The Two of Us at Scrapping the Music.

Thanks for visiting my blog today! I've been busy scrapping the past few days so I have lots and lots to share with you!! If you are looking for a place to play this weekend, there are quite a few challenges going on over at Scrapfreak.

There are the regular Friday challenges, the sketch of the month, the Birthday Bash Crop and the TGIF crop from last night. Most projects are due by 3/31 and the TGIF crop is due by tomorrow night, I believe. Lots of fun over there!! Plenty of ideas if you need a few good ones!

more scrapbook circle april kit!

Happy Friday! Today is a busy, busy Friday for me at work. Five times a year we send issues of the high school magazine to the printer and today is one of those days. Yahoo!!! It is also the last issue of the school year, so there will be some celebrating as well!

Today I'm also sharing with you another page I made for the Scrapbook Circle April kit. This page is made mostly with the October Afternoon - Fly A Kite papers that are in the kit. I LOVE this new line from them. So pretty in person, too. You almost don't want to cut into it! (Almost...!)

If you missed my post yesterday, scoot on down to that post to see the snapshot of the April kit from Scrapbook Circle. It looks so good... and yes, it is JUST THAT GOOD in person!

Thanks for visiting me today! I have lots on the agenda for this weekend, so you'll be sure to see some new stuff from me next week! Even tomorrow perhaps! :)

Have a nice Friday!!

new scrapbook circle and something sketchy

Scrapbook Circle has just unveiled the April kit in its entirety, and here I am to tease you with some of the fun, bright pages that can be made with this kit! It will go on sale April 1st... no foolin'!

This page is also for the 3.25 Sketchy Thursdays challenge. You HAVE to head on over there and check it out. Are you familiar with Scribble Scrabble? Their papers are so fun and bright ...and did I say fun?! There are 3 of their new paper packs up for grabs this week just for playing along. Oh... and of course the new sketch is inspiration within itself, right?!

Don't forget to leave the Sketchy Thursdays DT some love on their blogs, today. This was their last sketch for ST... but now they can play for prizes, so I think they are OK with it! :)

wordless wednesday

This picture is from Dress-Up Day at school last month. A local photo place comes in with costumes and the kids dress-up and they take their photos. It's a fundraiser for the school.

I love my little karate-chop action figure! You know the pictures from this day are definitely going to make it into a layout very soon!

my sissy

My sister and I are the bookends of the siblings. We are 14 years apart in age and there are two brothers in-between us. Ashley lives in Michigan with my mom and stepdad, and as many of you know, I am in NY with my husband and son.

I've been wanting to make something kind of feminine and girly, and this suddenly all came together! This project was inspired by the Moxie Fab doilies and lace challenge, and the embellishments challenge at Scrapfreak.

When my mom posted some pictures on Facebook this past weekend, this one of my sister and I from last summer was in that batch of photos. I hadn't seen it before, and it motivated this project that's been knocking around in my head for awhile.

I hung this frame from a thick, satin brown ribbon on a white, distressed metal hook in my scraproom and it look fabulous... actually is looks Moxie Fab, lol!

Thanks for checking this out today! I know I am just getting this in under the wire for the challenges, but I am so glad for the inspiration to finally get this out of my head and into my hands! :)

Supplies: Girls Paperie (paper), Dear Lizzy (pink ribbon), American Crafts Flair (button), Cosmo Cricket (letter stickers), October Afternoon Fly a Kite (paper for petals), lace, blue button and paper for flower (vintage finds).

gotta check this out!

I know, I never post twice a day... very rarely. But, I am helpin' my girl Bree out. She is looking for crafty people... LIKE YOU!!!

*******************

Are you fabulously creative?
I am looking for a few fabulous, creative scrappers who love a great challenge. I actually have a few projects in mind:

  1. Some guest DT spots for Who's That Girl.
  2. Being featured in a class I am teaching over at Scrapfreak.com
  3. A crazy creative project I am considering starting, but it would really only be for the weird, brave and bold! I am still thinking this one through :)
I would love to get a comment from you with a link to your gallery and info if you would like to try out a new challenge!

*******************

If you like to be part of a team and love jumping off points for your creativity, I would suggest you give it a try. I love working with Bree and think you would, too!

april's kit sure looks good!

I can't help but share a sneak peek from the April Scrapbook Circle kit. I started playing around with it this weekend and it is so easy to work with. Great colors... new and fun patterns...

If you were on the fence about starting your kit club subscription with Scrapbook Circle, hopefully this kit will help you to decide! It will go fast, though, I am sure of it... so get in now while you can!

Happy Monday to you! Hope your week looks promising!

And, if you have a minute... head on over to Sketchy Thursdays and vote for our April Guest Design Team member. There are some really talented ladies hoping to get your vote!

love for the sofa

I haven't had a chance to play along with too many challenges lately since I've been asked to make quite a few cards lately. Including one big order for a series of matching and themed thank you cards that I can't wait to get started on.

Here are some of the cards I've been making. I love this On My Couch set from Papertrey Ink. Just love it! This sofa can be used for so much! And in so many ways!

I was apparently so into sofas that I had to buy a new one for my house! LOL... actually we were overdue for one. Our previous sofa was literally leaving it's stuffing on the rug and the staples from the armrest were showing up all over the floor. It was time to go!

Here is our new living room set, and I am sooo excited! I have been wanting a color and style like this forever, especially since we bought the house and I started decorating with these colors in mind.

Thanks for stopping in today! Hope everyone has a fun weekend planned! I do! I am meeting up with a girlfriend tomorrow while Nate goes to the fisher hatchery with his grandparents for a few hours, and then some relaxing time in the scrap room for sure.

spring... oh spring.... where are you?!

I am so ready for winter to be over. I'm tired of feeling cold all the time; I want flip flops back on my feet! And my son agrees with me.

Last weekend, my darling hubby ran out to my car to get the umbrella so Nate could stomp around the back deck in the rain. I had hoped the nice weather we'd had all that week would have held on for the weekend, but it hadn't... the rain came pouring down. That didn't stop Nate from having fun outside for a bit (and in his jammies no less)!

This page is made for the 3.18 sketch for Sketchy Thursdays. Head on over and check out the next sketch. Hope to see you playing along with us!!

I also made this page with a challenge from Scrapfreak's Birthday Bash Crop in mind. There is a challenge to break outside of our comfort zone. We looked at scrap styles we admire and why. I am always in awe of the people who layer and layer and layer their embellishments, as well as those that doodle and draw. So, here is my page for that challenge.

The Scrapfreak Birthday Bash Crop challenges last until the end of March. There is also a new members contest, so if you head over there after reading this and sign up, mention that Diana sent you so I can get points! :)

Thanks for stopping by today!

Supplies: Cosmo Cricket Earth Love (paper), American Crafts Dear Lizzy (rub-ons), ribbon, white paint, Sharpie-brown ultrafine point.

girly floral card

Hi! These wonderful little items are in the Studio Calico kit for March. I love this paper from the American Crafts Dear Lizzy line!!

This post is going to be a little bit of a Wordless Wednesday since I don't have too much to say, just that I liked making this card. It went to a friend of mine to give to her friend. I love when she asks me to make cards for her!! :)

The green twisty stem and leaves are the back side of the floral paper. It is a solid green.

And that's about it! Oh... and did you see? The Sketchy Thursdays DT announcement has been posted! Check it out! We've got new inspiration for you! And go to their blogs if you haven't yet. The girls Heidi and I chose all do fabulous work!

canvas fashion

I've been working on some projects lately that are just for me. I love altered projects, things I can hang or display and not just shove into an album when I'm done. This canvas is 8x10 and is proudly displayed on the shelf in my scrap room.

I had read on the Studio Calico blog about treating canvas with gesso before painting it. That was awesome! I love the look and texture I got from using it. After it dried, I misted with a combination of Sunflower Yellow Maya Mist and Smooch Spritz also in an orange-yellow color.

While that dried again, I covered the Maya Road chipboard dress form (the back piece from the dress form chipboard album) with paper from Studio Calico and then with an old pattern from a top I never made. I really liked the look of both the pattern and the words, it gave it some extra depth.

Then I covered the other chipboard pieces with more Studio Calico papers. The chipboard pieces are from the Maya Road set, Sew Cute. So adorable! I just love these and had to have them asap!

Lastly, the "dream" fabric letters are from Donna Downey. And there you have it, my Oh Sew Cute 8x10 canvas artwork for my scraproom.

This was many weeks in the making (and the reason why I had yellow mist on my carpet from the last post...) and I'm so glad to have it finished.

Try going 3-D next time you make something you're really excited about! It could become a keepsake with a few extra steps!

doodle it up!

Is a no-picture layout still a layout? Or is it a notebook doodle sans the homeroom teacher and the homework?!

The latest challenge at Who's That Girl is RISKY BUSINESS. Do you take risks? Do you avoid them? We wanna know! I personally think that I take a risk every day. I commute from the far west side of the county, all the way through the city, and then into the the next county. My drive takes about an hour, give or take 5 minutes, each way. Two hours of highway traffic each day.

I thought about using a picture of my car, but yawn... how boring! Then we started prep work for the Scrapfreak Birthday Crop, and I was presented with the task of looking at the scrappers I admire and why.

One of the girls I chose is WTG's founder, Bree. I love how Bree freely doodles on her pages and it always looks so perfect. So, I was determined to doodle more. And with that thought, this page was born. This page was version #2, version #1 was all over the map and sad, sad, sad.

So here is my doodling risky page. Hope you like it! And I hope you play along with us! Head on over to the Who's That Girl challenge blog, see what the other girls came up with, and share your page with us!

I also have a testimonial for today!
If you're like me and mist first, worry later, this little bad boy can of carpet cleaner will be your best friend! Dear hubby saw my misting mishap on the carpet in the scrap room over the weekend... needless to say, I had to clean it up pronto!

I found this little handy item at the store and it is fabulous! The mist(s)... shhhhh, it was more than one color... had been there for quite some time and this cleaner fixed it all up super easy. And the smell wasn't that bad either. Which is good since the scrap room is right next to Nate's room. I'm not a fan of harsh smells while he's trying to sleep.

OK, thanks for listening to me ramble! Hope you are off to a good start this week!

my new screen saver

This is my new screen saver. A picture of my two favorite scrappy people, Julie (on the left) and Heidi.... CONSPIRACY!! These two up and planned a visit with each other without telling me!!!

But well they should! Not only do they both live in AZ, but they have a bunch in common.

All I'm saying, girls, is the next secret meeting better be on a plane to NY! :) Hahahahaa... no excuses, I need to plan a trip to AZ. Though when it's 117 degrees there, I'm sure a summer trip to my 80 degrees would sound pretty good to you two.

Thanks for the picture... I love it!

chocolate and super heroes

Hello! Happy Friday to you all!!

Crop Chocolate, one of the coolest scrapbook supply sites, had posted on their blog for design team volunteers. I jumped at the chance to work with the company that ranks right up there with my morning coffee!! I seriously check the Crop Chocolate deal of the day before I even check my morning news. It's just that important to snag the deal before anyone else.

Crop Chocolate sent me this stash of goodies to play with, and wow, did I have fun! This album is 8x8 and is the perfect size for my son. He is really interested in art, and I just knew he would love his very own album to flip through. And the pages we make will be just for him and about the things he loves.

The colors in this kit are perfect for the pictures of the Marvel Comics super heroes that I have from a trip to the museum this past year. The Strong National Museum of Play (which you have to visit if you get the chance) has a Marvel Comics exhibit, and when we were there for the opening of the exhibit, I took pictures of the statues.

As you can see, we've made the Spiderman, Superman and Batman pages so far. I also have pictures of the Hulk and Ironman for the next pages. Then Nate wants to add Buzz Lightyear and Woody from Toy Story and then CARS characters.

I just love seeing him with this book! It's just for him and he loves having input. He actually even helped out a little, making this truly his book!

Head on over to Crop Chocolate today and check out their deal! They bring SWEET deals to their customers and make their site a place where scrapbookers can come and communicate with each other, get ideas, share their creations and have a great time.

I have been working with McCall and Jon over at Crop Chocolate, and I have to say that if you like knowing that you're spending your hard-earned scrapbooking money with a company that cares and wants you to be happy with your purchase... no one is working harder than they are at assuring you that they appreciate your business!!!

Oh... and join their Facebook fan page! Their deals change throughout the day, so if you are a FB junkie like me, seeing the deals pop up there is a great reminder to stalk the deal!

peep... peep, peep

Nate and I were walking through Wegmans (our local grocery store, which is awesome, by the way) a few weeks ago and they had the Easter candy stocked. Nate was instantly drawn to the brightly colored Peeps. They now come in every neon color you can think of, so of course a toddler was attracted to them.

Feeling sentimental towards the Peeps, I let him pick out a color and off we went on our way. When we got home, he had to have one right away, and I grabbed the camera. He was OK with it at first, and then had to throw the other half away. I think they were too sweet for him.

That didn't stop him from eating half of a few more over the course of the next few days. He's so silly. I can't tell if he likes them or not. I do. His dad doesn't. So, I can see him swaying either way. For right now, he'll just continue to take a bite and be done with it.

This page is made for the newest Sketchy Thursdays challenge using the latest Studio Calico kit. Click here to see the next sketch and meet this week's sponsor, Sweet Twee. Cute, cute stuff there!!

This page is also for The Studio 3/7 challenge:
Scrap a page and include on it some memorabilia from the time you are scrapping about!

I hope you'll head over there and play along. I have been MIA from that site for too long, but this challenge spoke to me. I knew I had saved the package from the Peeps knowing I would make this page. (Great timing, Amanda, you must have been reading my mind!) And I miss my Studio friends.

Thanks for stopping by!! :)
