Blue icee days

Hi! Popping in today to share a layout I made. I went to a crop in January and there was a little shop set up. I was so excited to see the fair isle pattern paper from Fancy Pants - Timbergrove collection. I love that pattern!

I scooped it up along with a replenish of some of the other Timbergrove goodies, and I got a chance to play this past weekend.

This top cluster is a mix of stars from Studio Calico and The Paper Bakery. I love putting the solid with the line stars.

An envelope and tag are nestled in the background behind a picture. And below, the letters are new from Recollections. I scooped up a couple packs of these from Michaels. They are canvas and added great texture to this page.

Thanks for stopping to see my layout today! It was nice to spend a little time over the weekend working with some of my favorite pieces.

"This Life" January kit {scrapbook circle}

If you haven't seen it yet, the January kit for Scrapbook Circle is pretty awesome! There are quite a few papers that are perfect for those upcoming Valentine's Day projects and cards, but as you can see below, there are plenty of pieces that still work for everyday moments.

The Studio Calico Printshop Journal Cards came in handy on this layout. I love the pieces where you can stick photos into the card (like under the ampersand and under the pennant flag).

We went to the Androids and Aliens exhibit at our local museum last month and snapped some pictures of Nate with Star Wars characters. Terminator, Aliens and Iron Man were also there along with great sci-fi story boards and a Mars Rover video. I just love the museum! Always good for a trip twice a year to see the new exhibits and re-visit old ones.

I also wanted to make sure to include the ticket stub (it has how many of us went and on what day), and this little layered cluster with a wood veneer pennant and journal card worked out perfectly.

Check out Scrapbook Circle if you are in the market for a kit or a kit club subscription! Use my code DIANAF20OFF for 20% off you purchase.

Copper Mountain Giveaway {bella blvd and studio calico}

Hi! Happy Monday to you all. Today I have a great giveaway for you from Studio Calico.

Bella Blvd has a paper in the Copper Mountain January kit. It is the fabulous one with the yellow hearts. On the other side of that paper are these wonderful doodles (originally in the Snapshots collection). It is custom just for Studio Calico and this kit.

There is the 12x12 version in the main kit, and then the yellow hearts pattern appears again in the 6x6 paper pad in the card kit.

I had fun working with the main kit and the paper pad in the card kit to make these three cards.

I loved the buck stamp! I used a mustard yellow embossing powder to make him stand out on this card. The Bella Blvd paper is the doodles side shown here as one of the strips in the background.

There is one great sheet of paper at the beginning of the 6x6 pad that has a snapshot of each paper in the pad and its name. I used that for the background on this card.

Then I fussy cut the camera and heart doodles from the sheet from Bella Bvd.

I was having so much fun with the doodles, that I wanted to make sure to also give that great yellow side some attention. Here I used the 6x6 paper pad version with the smaller scale hearts and stamped a sentiment and white-embossed frame on it.

This is such a great quote to start the year off, don't you think?!

Thanks for scrolling through to see what I made with this kit. One lucky commenter on this blog post will have a chance to win the Studio Calico Copper Mountain Card kit (pictured below).

Leave a comment using the Rafflecopter below letting me know what kind of project you think you would make if you win the Copper Mountain Card Kit.

You have until Friday night at midnight (ET) to leave your comment. I'll announce the winner shortly thereafter, so make sure to follow my blog or check back to see if you were the winner.

Croppin' friends

Hello! I had some time this past weekend to make a page using some of my favorite items I had laying around my scrappy space. Even though I scrap mainly for a boy, I still order some of the more girly items that I love when they are released.

I love the Glitz Unchartered Waters collection, the new Maggie Holmes collection from Crate Paper and the Fancy Pants buttons and little bags. I also jumped on those wood veneer clouds from Freckled Fawn and the anchors from Studio Calico.

This picture was taken at a crop I went to not too long ago for a Relay For Life fundraiser. Kate Vickers came on over from Canada, Lisa Swift lives in the area and Audrey Yeager came from neighboring Syracuse. It was so fun to hang with these ladies for the day. My friend Renee was there, too, but managed to duck the photos.

I liberated the sequins from the pocket that comes in the Maggie Holmes collection and sprinkled them around the page. Wow — these little stinkers get away from you fast and I'm sure there are more in the carpet than I want to admit.

Thanks for stopping by here today. Love how this turned out and I was happy to share it here today. Enjoy your week!

Creative Scrappers {layouts}

Creative Scrappers had an online crop last weekend and thanks to being shut up in the house with a boy who had a fever, I had a chance to play along with some of the sketches.

I got to use my chicken wire mask on this page and some mists. I used distressing inks for the blue chicken wire and the yellow mist is a Maya mist. Gotta love those little Studio Calico stars!

Here is the second layout I made for the crop. I used a picture from when we went to our first Red Wings game of the season. It was so cold, but also fun to finally go to a game.

The papers and embellishments are a mix of Echo Park and Jillibean Soup. Both have great baseball collections this year. I think I'm already going to need to order some more — and it's only June! Yikes!

Thanks for stopping to see my layouts. :) Hope your week is going well.

don't laugh...

Hello and happy Thursday! This page is for the 4.22 Sketchy Thursdays challenge. Head on over there and see the awesome prize that Crop Chocolate has for this week's winner, it's a great one! And of course, you want to see the sketch and what the rest of the DT made! Obviously! :)

I was so excited to make this page! My son invented a game that he started playing during dinner. He would stare at us, make this adorable and yet mean-looking face and say in a sing-song voice, "don't laugh," daring us to be the first to laugh and lose. We couldn't help it, the first few times he did it, we would just burst out laughing.

Then we got serious about it. We got competitive! It is now, months later, a regular dinner game we look forward to.

I made this page with mostly my Studio Calico April kit. Lots of Sassafras Lass and Studio Calico papers and embellishments here on this page. Makes it fun!

Hope to see you over at the Sketchy Thursdays challenge this week!

yummy dark cherry mocha

The new Dark Cherry Mocha from Starbucks is so good! So, so good! :) With this page, I'm playing along with a few different challenges.
These are a Few of My Favorite Things wants to see your Favorite Drink.
Scrapfreak Friday's Challenge wants to see your "Indulgence."
• And The Studio wants to see buttons and bows.

Plus, this page was just so much fun to make. The cherry stamp was in the March kit for Studio Calico. I love how I was able to use it to make a pattern at the bottom of the page. A cherry pattern for a cherry drink, yum!

The journaling says, "The sign said 'Do you want' & I said 'Yes!' Oh yes I do!" And literally that is how I stumbled upon this new favorite drink of mine!

my boys

Hi there! Hope your Saturday is going well. This page is one of my latest favorites. The picture was taken this past week on my husband's only day off this week. We went to a local place called Taste of Texas for dinner. It is in an old bar and the specialty is called The Outlaw. A GIANT baked potato loaded with everything you would expect in a baked potato and then also a meat of your choice. I get the shredded chicken and hubby gets the pulled pork. It is so good!!

Most of the materials for this page came in my April kit for Scrapbook Circle... it is a good one! I added the stamp and the Hambly stitches rub-ons. The sketch is from the Studio Calico Sunday Sketches challenge from this past Sunday. Due today if you'd like to play along! I also used the prompt Just The Two of Us at Scrapping the Music.

Thanks for visiting my blog today! I've been busy scrapping the past few days so I have lots and lots to share with you!! If you are looking for a place to play this weekend, there are quite a few challenges going on over at Scrapfreak.

There are the regular Friday challenges, the sketch of the month, the Birthday Bash Crop and the TGIF crop from last night. Most projects are due by 3/31 and the TGIF crop is due by tomorrow night, I believe. Lots of fun over there!! Plenty of ideas if you need a few good ones!

girly floral card

Hi! These wonderful little items are in the Studio Calico kit for March. I love this paper from the American Crafts Dear Lizzy line!!

This post is going to be a little bit of a Wordless Wednesday since I don't have too much to say, just that I liked making this card. It went to a friend of mine to give to her friend. I love when she asks me to make cards for her!! :)

The green twisty stem and leaves are the back side of the floral paper. It is a solid green.

And that's about it! Oh... and did you see? The Sketchy Thursdays DT announcement has been posted! Check it out! We've got new inspiration for you! And go to their blogs if you haven't yet. The girls Heidi and I chose all do fabulous work!

canvas fashion

I've been working on some projects lately that are just for me. I love altered projects, things I can hang or display and not just shove into an album when I'm done. This canvas is 8x10 and is proudly displayed on the shelf in my scrap room.

I had read on the Studio Calico blog about treating canvas with gesso before painting it. That was awesome! I love the look and texture I got from using it. After it dried, I misted with a combination of Sunflower Yellow Maya Mist and Smooch Spritz also in an orange-yellow color.

While that dried again, I covered the Maya Road chipboard dress form (the back piece from the dress form chipboard album) with paper from Studio Calico and then with an old pattern from a top I never made. I really liked the look of both the pattern and the words, it gave it some extra depth.

Then I covered the other chipboard pieces with more Studio Calico papers. The chipboard pieces are from the Maya Road set, Sew Cute. So adorable! I just love these and had to have them asap!

Lastly, the "dream" fabric letters are from Donna Downey. And there you have it, my Oh Sew Cute 8x10 canvas artwork for my scraproom.

This was many weeks in the making (and the reason why I had yellow mist on my carpet from the last post...) and I'm so glad to have it finished.

Try going 3-D next time you make something you're really excited about! It could become a keepsake with a few extra steps!

peep... peep, peep

Nate and I were walking through Wegmans (our local grocery store, which is awesome, by the way) a few weeks ago and they had the Easter candy stocked. Nate was instantly drawn to the brightly colored Peeps. They now come in every neon color you can think of, so of course a toddler was attracted to them.

Feeling sentimental towards the Peeps, I let him pick out a color and off we went on our way. When we got home, he had to have one right away, and I grabbed the camera. He was OK with it at first, and then had to throw the other half away. I think they were too sweet for him.

That didn't stop him from eating half of a few more over the course of the next few days. He's so silly. I can't tell if he likes them or not. I do. His dad doesn't. So, I can see him swaying either way. For right now, he'll just continue to take a bite and be done with it.

This page is made for the newest Sketchy Thursdays challenge using the latest Studio Calico kit. Click here to see the next sketch and meet this week's sponsor, Sweet Twee. Cute, cute stuff there!!

This page is also for The Studio 3/7 challenge:
Scrap a page and include on it some memorabilia from the time you are scrapping about!

I hope you'll head over there and play along. I have been MIA from that site for too long, but this challenge spoke to me. I knew I had saved the package from the Peeps knowing I would make this page. (Great timing, Amanda, you must have been reading my mind!) And I miss my Studio friends.

Thanks for stopping by!! :)

monster trucks rule!

Have you ever been to a Monster Trucks show? They are loud!! And I mean really loud. And so much fun! Nate, like most little boys, is going through his cars and trucks phase and just loves Monster Trucks.

So when the show came to town in January, we had to go.

It was pretty difficult to get great pictures in the arena, but I'm so glad that a few turned out well enough so that I could scrap this moment. My son's obsession live and in-person... no longer just toys, but real, live Monster Trucks!!

His expression in this one picture says it all, doesn't it?!

I used the Studio Calico February kit for most of this layout. I added the Jillibean journal spots from my stash and the black letter stickers are new from K&Co.

Being Thursday, you probably know that this page goes with a Sketchy Thursdays sketch. Check out the sketch and the fabulous prize Your Memories Here is giving away by heading over to the Sketchy Thursdays blog. The DT did a fabulous job with this one!! Gotta check out what they did!!

ahhhh, love this boy!

Finally, I got to play along with some of my favorite challenges! And this is a "pile it on" page. The title and prompt inspiration comes from Scrap That Poetry's newest challenge: Ah, Yes! Love! (A very sweet poem, go over and read it.)

The sketch comes from my girl Kristy over at Design Dollies. Love this sketch! Click on over there and get inspired by the Dollies!!

The color challenge is from If The Shoe Fits...Scrap It! (My old stomping ground... miss you girls!) They want to see red, white and pink. I put the three of those in there and then threw in the orange on account of Nate being a boy. I think it makes the red, pink and white more subtle once you throw in that fourth color.

Most of these papers and such came from the February Studio Calico kit. I threw in the Smooch Spritz, some of the flowers, the journal spot and the black lettering from my stash. If you haven't been to Michael's recently, the one near my work just put out the new K&Co. stuff for the Designer's Corner area. I picked up the black letters and the flowers there. They are super cute in person.

Thanks for stopping by! I am blogging over at the Scrapbook Circle blog today. I'm talking about bending the rules over there (you'll see...)!

10 of my favorite things

I was lucky enough to have some free time this weekend to scrap. Because dear hubby was working his new shift, I was able to play with the Design Dollies. The triple threat this week is to use turquoise, lime green and white, make a page about your favorite things, and use Kristy's sketch (which can be seen here).

I used my Studio Calico Whodunit January kit for this page. How cool that their new papers and the Origins line from Basic Grey which are in the kit would match so well with the Dollies challenge. And... I also found a not-so-bad picture of myself where I was wearing green just to make it all the more matchy-matchy.

I included only 10 favorite things so that this page also is my Guest DT Challenge for Scrapfreak this month. Crossing my fingers... I would love to be GDT over there, I love those peeps and the gallery is always full of wonderful inspiration.

Thanks for dropping in!! I hope you are having a great weekend. It is supposed to be warmer here today, but without the sun shining, the predicted high-40s still feels pretty darn cold to me. Stay warm, peeps!!
