Sassafras sketch for April

Have I mentioned how excited I am that Sassafras Lass is posting monthly challenges on their blog? Here is the page I made to go with the April sketch challenge.

I mixed and matched quite a few of their lines, but my favorite has to be this paper from Ellie's Tale. I just love those feathers! And I love that the richness in the Sassafras Lass colors goes from line to line, so that no matter what collection you are working with, they all match in tone.

I also played along at The Paper Variety. They want to see you put a number on your page. I often find myself "tagging" my pages with Nate's age. Just so years from now I can recall easily how old he was in these pictures. Though I hope that I'll never forget these moments. A mother's wish...

Thanks for visiting my page today. I hope everyone has a great Friday planned and some family time set aside for the weekend. For those of you celebrating, have a great Easter!

The Sampler and Sassafras

The Sampler kit for March has the gorgeous Sweetly Smitten in it as well as a fabulous sheet from the Starters collection. That's the sheet with the great pink sheet music print. So pretty and very versatile. I can see myself grabbing for the Starters over and over again.

I was inspired by the March challenge for Sassafras Lass to make a page using a blocking technique. I've always loved that style of layout and jumped at the chance to use some Sassafras goodness to meet the challenge.

And do you see more of the lovely twine from The Twinery? Something about baker's twine and Sassafras Lass seem to go perfectly together.

Here's a picture of all that is in the March kit from The Sampler. I am especially in love with those MME buttons!

I hope this Monday is going well for you. And thanks so much for stopping by to see my page today.

hero arts, quickutz and a little sassafras

Over at Hero Arts' blog and QK's blog they are having a joint blog week. They have been giving away great prizes and encouraging readers to make a card using both HA and QK products. So I did! This is my card.

And, because I am a total Sassafras fan as well, Sassafras was encouraging readers to use the old with the new. So, I got out an old Wee Bundle I had of Sassafras to cut the QK bird out, and used some new Vintage Yummy for the PP in the card.

I just love how cute this turned out. Thanks for looking. And don't forget to read your fave scrappy blogs today!

*UPDATE: So excited, this card was on the
Sassafras Blog today!*

PS: As I went to link the blogs in this post, I saw that I won yesterday's giveaway on QK!!! Yeah! Here is what I won, so excited!

no one quite like papa

**Update: For now, this page is Out For Publication!**

Nate and Papa are quite the pair! I hit the point in Nate's book where we went to the Thousand Island's for a week last summer. There are so many pictures of Nate and Papa together that week, I just had to make a page for just the two of them.

Supplies: Sassafras Lass chipboard (birds), Cosmo Cricket chipboard (buttons and clouds) MM letter stickers, American Crafts Thickers, MME transparency (tree), Fancy Pants felt (sun), Cosmo Cricket (patterned paper)

DON'T FORGET TO POST YOUR SKETCHY THURSDAY LAYOUT FOR THE WEEK HERE.

In my card-making frenzy this weekend, I made this cute little card with Sassafras Lass paper and their Wild Side chipboard pieces. Happy Monday to everyone!

Don't forget to get your entries in for SKETCHY THURSDAYS. I plan on working on my layout for this week's sketch tonight or tomorrow.
