12.10 sketchy thursdays and a little poetry

It's Sketchy Thursdays day! A new sketch is ready for you, and here is my page. I doubled up this week and in addition to Sketchy Thursdays, I also played along with Scrap That Poetry. Challenge #5 is The Road Not Taken.


I loved making this page! I pretty much used Sassafras Lass scraps and stickers from pieces of left over kits. The picture is from our honeymoon in 2004. It was taken at the top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine. Ahhhh.... I wish I was back there.... all the time!

my wonderful wednesday news

I am one of the newest DT members for Scrapbook Circle! They have a wonderful kit club, blog, community, Facebook fan page... awesome stuff!!! And I am now happily a part of the team!!! So excited!

Congrats to Aymee Gandy and Jillian Deiling for also being chosen (along with veteran DT members Diana and Jennie staying on).

a red, black and yellow shoe challenge

It's SHOE DAY! Well, Fridays are If The Shoe Fits... Scrap It! days. I wish it meant I really got to go buy new shoes, but (sigh), oh well! I'll settle for bringing you the latest challenge from the If The Shoe Fits... challenge blog.

For Fashionista Friday #13, we want to see your red, black and yellow cards, pages, altered art, tree decorations, garland, anything creative with red, black and yellow. Here's my little holiday card to get you in the mood to create.


I have to give a shout out to my girls Amy, Lisa, Heather and Traci from The Marriott! This ornament stamp is from a Stampin Up set that I bought at Lisa's SU party last month. I was so glad to be invited, and it was SOOOOOO much fun to meet and enjoy the day with these ladies. SO FUN!!

12.3 sketchy thursdays challenge

Sketchy Thursdays is back! We put the challenge on hold last week for the Thanksgiving holiday (and gave you a Second Chance Challenge to hold you over—did you win the iCopics?), but we are back this week.

This is the page I made for the 12.3 sketch. Many people don't know much about my darling husband. He's a private person, doesn't have a Facebook page, is 100% devoted to his job and all that comes with it... but he used to be a rock star! He loves Metallica and Van Halen, he owned and played a Les Paul guitar, he even used to be the marketing director for a radio station.


So, I thought it was incredibly cute when one evening he decided to show Nate how to make the rock devil horns. It was so funny, and of course I took pictures.

Nate thought it was so cool. Soon after, he began treating our remote control and any other toy within reach like a guitar and strumming his pretend strings to anything from commercials to the intro music for The Office.

We may have a future rock star in our house! Who knows, maybe hubby will take it up again?! He played wonderfully before he traded Les for Glock.

get meaningful: prompt #28

The Get Meaningful Prompt #28 is FOOD. I don't know about you, but I love food. Love to bake. Love to cook. Love to try new things. Love it all!

And I love this new holiday line from Pink Paislee. How stinkin cute are these papers?! I ordered them from Scrapfreak a little bit ago and have been hoarding them.

For Get Meaningful this week I documented how Nate loves for me to make hot cocoa, but he doesn't always like to drink it. He'll always eat the marshmallows or the whipped topping, but he doesn't like the hot drink. Silly boy!!

i'm GDT at the studio this month

If you haven't been a stalker of The Studio blog and forum/gallery, you are missing out! The Studio blog runs two challenges a month on the 1st and the 15th. There are great prizes, great friends and challenges you can sink your teeth into.

This month should be no different! The first challenge for the month of December is:

 1.. Your layout should be based on the theme of childhood – it
     can be your own or someone else.
 2.. Use a frame of some kind in the design of your layout
 3.. Use layers – can be paper, ribbon, whatever you like, but
     layer it up!

For my GDT sample page, I focused on Nate's childhood. I used the frames from some wonderful Sassafras Lass paper I have been hoarding for many, many months. For the layering, I used Maya Mist, paint and paper all on the background paper. Then I used the fussy cutting, the ribbon, the string and the button felt flower for even more dimension.
