reality vs. perception

The next Get Meaningful Prompt #27 is ready for you today! The idea is to think back on a situation where after-the-fact your perception versus the reality of what happened was completely different. I'm sure we've all had those moments when we are in the thick of things we can't see the forest for the trees.

I chose to make a page about having Nate. The idea to have a baby seemed all well and good until I had to raise him! As mothers, I'm sure we have all been there where we say, "Wow, this is a tough job!" My choices for him now are so much larger than the initial fleeting thought on whether or not we were ready to have him in our family.

(And don't you just love "lil Nate" in the picture? He was adorable from day one! In this picture he was only 3-4 months old, I believe. )

I used some more of my Lil Scrappin Mama kit for this. That Nov. kit is so darn versatile! I never get tired of using it. (Do you have one yet? Hurry up....) Thanks for stopping by!!

I had a few minutes this weekend to try and scrap again. After being so sick all week, it felt good to get back into the swing of things. Here's another page I made using the November kit for Lil Scrappin Mama.

i hope he always believes

Here's my page for the Nov. 1st challenge at The Studio. You had to:

1. Use the sketch provided (by Sketchy Thursdays)
   
2. Your layout and journaling should be based on something you hope or wish for

My page is about how I hope Nate always believes in the power of super heroes. The pictures are from when he got his new Spider Man pjs and he thought he could run faster, jump higher and be stronger. The Spider Man statue is from the Strong National Museum of Play display in the new Marvel wing. So very cool!!


And where, you may ask, are all of these great supplies from?! Lil Scrappin Mama kit club, of course!! I got my kit this weekend and it is chock full of great stuff. I love the Bella Blvd. and Sassafras Lass goodies that are in there.

As many of you know, today is a big day for a few reasons. First, I am off to meet Spiderman with my son this morning, so that is the most important event of them all—Super heroes are the best!

No, really... here is the big news for today in the land of scrapbooking. At Sketchy Thursdays today, we are rolling out another Second Chance Challenge courtesy of Lil Scrappin Mama. If you haven't guessed by now, the DT members each took a stab at the October kit and it was WONDERFUL! Great fall colors, awesome kraft paper and amazing embellishments that seemed to go on forever! Happy Friday! I am going to continue the week of fall colors by showing the two cards I made with my October kit from Lil Scrappin Mama. I can't say enough about it!

get meaningful: school days

Get Meaningful is back up today with the latest prompt: School Days. What was school like for you? For your kids? Take a minute to journal about your experience attending school or in watching your kids go.

I couldn't, for the life of me, find a decent, worthy-of-scrapping photo of me from when I was in school. So, I went with Nate's preschool experience.


From past layouts, some of you know that I love to take pictures of Nate before he leaves the house. These shots are from this past week, and he is looking particularly handsome... and being quite a ham!

I wrote in the journal spot a bit about taking his picture before school, but the hidden journaling goes deeper into his actual experiences at preschool. Let's just say that Nate isn't a stranger to the concept of time out. (smile!)
