I live in the city of beaches, golf courses, and sunshine-Myrtle Beach, SC. I moved here 4 years ago with my wonderful husband and two teenage children.

I enjoy every aspect of paper crafting from creating scrapbooks, invitations, favor boxes to altered projects. Just keep the paper rolling. That's funny because my husband works for a paper company.
If

I have to pick one thing I enjoy the most about paper crafting, it would be scrapbooking. There's nothing like that feeling of accomplishment when you take a sheet of paper, a photo and some embellishments and create a lasting memory for your family. It also allows me to preserve my families memories while satisfying my need to create.

I started scrapbooking 11 years ago after my best friend asked me to host a party for Creative Memories. I remember my first page was our family trip to Sesame Place and the pages just keep coming after that. Although I do wish I had more time to devote to scrapbooking and experimenting with some of the new techniques.

My favorite trend in paper crafting is the use of buttons. I like playing around with them to create different looks on my pages or projects. By simply adding a button to your project you can create texture, interest and that extra splash of color.

Thanks, Marcia! We are so lucky to have Paper Charms as a sponsor! Take a look at her store when you get a chance, there are some really cute tags there.

my sketchy thursdays layout - friends

Here's my layout for this week's Sketchy Thursdays challenge. It goes with the sketch that can be found in the right sidebar.

This page goes in my son's scrapbook. My best friend in the whole world since I was just kid is Darlene (hi Dar!!!). We both had our first child a few months apart from each other. She had Karissa and I had Nate.

Darlene and I live four hours away from each other, and we get together whenever we can. When we do, the kids have a blast together. The journaling is telling Nate how he and Karissa were buddies just like Darlene and I, and that he liked Karissa's little sister Samantha, even though she was little.

Supplies: Cosmo Cricket (pp and some chipboard), Maya Road (chipboard), American Crafts (Thickers), Making Memories (stickers)

red, white and blue summer challenge

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing the page I made for Memories Always - Forever's July summer challenge. The prompt was to use a summertime theme and the colors red, white and blue. Here's what I came up with!

This picture is from last summer when my mom and step dad sent Nate a "tractor." He called it a tractor, but it was actually a motorized big wheel. He still love it now, even though his knees almost touch his chin when he sits on it.

In this picture he's looking all tough as he poses with his new tractor. One of my faves!!

Supplies: Jenni Bowlin (pp), Basic Grey (pp), Crate Paper and BG (rub ons), Kraft paper, American Crafts (Thickers), Half Full Martini (journaling spots), Chatterbox (felt embellies) and some other brands I can't recall at the moment. Lots of goodies here!

pink ninjas - kicks

I have been stalking, though not playing, the Pink Ninjas blog for a few weeks. For whatever reason, I couldn't manage to do the prompt before it was gone and replaced by another.

Well, this week is another story! The new prompt is "KICKS," take it however you want, what gives you the kicks, etc.

This page is of, well, my kicks (as in shoes). Some of the DT there did pages about their shoes, and I thought that was right up my alley. I love shoes! Let me rephrase, I love 3 inch heels! And I wish that I had more of the funds to buy the ones I really want most of the time.

These shoes are super cute, lil' peep toe and such a cute fabric. What gives me the kicks? ... I never wear them! Don't know why, they just aren't as versatile as some of the other pairs that I have. At least now they will live on in my scrapbooks as adorable shoes I rarely wore but loved to look at.

Supplies: Basic Grey (pp), Vintage Plum (pp, looks like book pages), Half Full Martini (journaling spot), American Crafts (Flair), Chatterbox (butterfly), Sassafras Lass (pp on girl and hearts), Basic Grey (chipboard)

sketchy thursdays - new sketch

Hi everyone! Here is the new sketch this week for Sketchy Thursdays. My challenge to you this week is to use your patterned paper, especially the paper you've been avoiding because of its boldness. Last week we were minimalists, this week, we're gonna throw it all down! Lots of pictures, bold patterns and lots of journaling. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

To avoid the confusion, I am going back to the Wed. night deadline. Please post your entry to Mr. Linky in the right sidebar, in the comments section of this post or the Sketchy Thursdays Challenge Event spot on Memories Always - Forever by 11:59 p.m. (EST) Wednesday, July 15. I will post all of the layouts as well as announce a winner first thing Thursday, July 16.

Have fun with this one! Thanks for stopping by and thanks for playing along!

Next week's winner will receive a prize from Paper Charms, an adorable etsy shop with great scrappy stuff (including little chandelier thank you tags). Visit the shop this week and check back to meet Marcia next Wednesday!
