my mom gave me this gift
My mom taught me the basics that go with crafting. She instilled in me at a young age that working with your hands and creating from scratch is fulfilling, fun and something to be proud of. She also taught me that if you have a talent—a gift—you should share it.
As the oldest of my siblings, I passed on the love for art that my mom taught me to my brothers and sister. Most of us spent our allowance on art supplies. Mom and I even made my homecoming dress when I was a sophomore. We were a crafty household that enjoyed creating and working with our hands—and I am convinced Mom had everything to do with that.
So, here is my THANKS, MOM! crafty page. I really enjoyed making this, though I found it tough to not go overboard. I have acquired many of the new stamp sets, papers, chipboards and embellishments that are sewing and crafting themed. It was not easy to decided what to use and what to save for another page.
Sketchy Thursdays has another Second Chance Challenge for you today! Kelly Marie, the founder of Lawn Fawn stamps has partnered with us to bring you this challenge.
I used the Lawn Fawn Sew Lovely stamps. I used the button and flowered circle as a make-it-yourself pattern near the top of the page. I also used the spool of thread stamp as an embellishment and cut them out of white paper. (The prize for playing also happens to be this stamp set, yahoo!!!)
One thing I just have to say about these stamps... they come clean so easily and do not stain. They are awesome to use, don't wobble at all when you press down onto the paper, and come in this really sturdy fold-over package thing... hard to describe, but it's perfect!
If you have a chance to play along with us, head on over to the Sketchy Thursdays blog today. Check out the sketch that the lovely Heidi has made for you (yup... Heidi is a regular sketch maker now!!), and play along for the prize from Lawn Fawn.
Thanks for stopping by today! If you are enjoying the Easter weekend... Happy Easter to you and yours! My husband actually has today and tomorrow off from work, so I am quite excited! He never gets holidays off, but this one just fell this way in his rotation. YAY!
Don't forget to eat chocolate for breakfast! It's the only day you can!
Supplies: Fancy Pants (pp), Cosmo Cricket (pp), Lawn Fawn (stamping), October Road (pp as border & letter stickers), Maya Road (pins & dress form chipboard), fabric, string, sewing pattern

I LOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEE this layout! So awesome!!! As soon as I read the part about you made your Homecoming dress, I instantly though of Pretty in Pink (without the "outsider" aspect, of course!). Everyone used to call me Molly when I was in high school...I think it was the pale skin and ridiculously huge lips. But I digress...
I am so ~blushing~ right now, too. I'm glad you like my sketch. I really was proud of this one. Almost as good as a "Diana sketch"!!
Hugs, my girlie!!
Have a GREAT Easter! (Easter Bunny's got a lot of egg stuffing to do tonight...she foolishly set a precidence a while back of hiding upwards of 80 eggs for the kids to find so now has to continue the tradition every year.)
(So, we're only supposed to eat chocolate for breakfast one day a year? Huh! Guess I've been doing it wrong - or right, LOL!)
I love your layout.
My mom wasn't creative at all. I thrived on it. I would take paper bags and make something. We didn't have any craft supplies in the home. Maybe that is why I have so much now teehee.
