loving this right now

This week, Sketchy Thursdays teamed up with the Who's That Girl challenge blog. Using the latest Sketchy Thursdays sketch and the new prompt at Who's That Girl: Right Now, this is the page I made. ...And I love this page!

My thought behind this was to show a page that looked a bit like those compilations that interior designers will put together for clients. You know... where they put the type of wood, paint, fabric and patterns all on one board or tray to convey a look and feel for a space. (I watch too much HGTV...)

This is my "Right Now." I am really into florals, border punches, texture, fabric, floss, sewing, patterns, and handmade flowers with buttons. And I managed to squeeze all of these onto one page.

I have always thought that I would love to make shadow boxes like these and hang them on my walls. Just filled with the patterns, colors and textures that I am into at the moment.

Well, I hope this got you motivated to try the Sketchy Thursdays and/or Who's That Girl challenges this week. Head on over to see the great prize up for grabs from Apron Strings Kit Club and the latest sketch!!! Can't wait to see everyone's "Right Now" pages! Such a fun prompt!!!

a scrappy design giveaway

The Design Team for A Scrappy Design had the pleasure of working with the Tutti Fruiti collection recently. Being an overachiever, I attempted to start a mini... and then proceeded to not get it finished in time—d'oh! And if you know me, that is an incredible personal disappointment... not to finish what I start.

On top of my misplaced scrappy mojo, I am also quite sick. I have been down for the count since Friday when I first got a sore throat, and now I'm all-out sick and can't seem to get better.

But that isn't stopping me from sending rays of sunshine and happy chances for prizes your way!!!

IT’S GIVEAWAY TIME AT A SCRAPPY DESIGN!
One lucky winner will receive an assortment of goodies from the Tutti Fruiti collection. Head on over to Heather's A Scrappy Design blog and leave your comment(s) for your chance(s) to win!!

And hopefully soon I'll be able to share the whole mini album with you. It's all there in my head, it's just the fever and runny nose that are blocking the creativity.

we're hoppin'!

Sketchy Thursdays is doing the Spring Challenge Blog Hop!! Remember that snippet of a page I showed you here? Well, this is what I was referring to. Heidi has turned into quite the sketch maker and this one she made for the hop is by far my favorite!!

I'm hoping that you will be able to join us for the hop! The challenge blogs that are participating are:

There are prizes and challenges on each blog, and you have until April 18th to play along with us. The Sketchy Thursdays challenge blog is giving away 2 prizes from our dear friends at Flamingo Scraps. One prize just for stopping by and telling us you are hopping, and one prize for those that participate in the challenge. Both prizes are fabulous, so make sure you stop by and see!!

There will be one grand prize given by Practical Scrappers, so if you do all of the challenges, make sure to let Practical Scrappers know.

This page was so much fun to make. Not only was Heidi's sketch easy and fun to work with, but these papers from My Mind's Eye are awesome. The pictures are from a recent ride on the carousel, and my son is hamming it up pretty cheesy in that picture on the left. I just love it!!!!

So head on over to Sketchy Thursdays to see Heidi's sketch and play along (all you have to do is leave a comment for a chance at one of the prizes), and start at Practical Scrappers if you'd like to do the whole hop for the chance at the grand prize!

Thanks for stopping by today!!! :)

got quarters?

It's time for another Sketchy Thursdays challenge! This week's sketch is ready for you over on the Sketchy Thursdays blog. The DT came up with some great pages, so make sure you head on over there and see all of their awesome work!

This week's prize is from Green Horned Unicorn... which happens to be DT Antonia's Etsy shop. Before Antonia was a DT, she was a girl whose shop I came across through blog hopping. I then proceeded to hunt her down and beg for the sponsorship! :)

Green Horned Unicorn is an adorable, bright and fun Etsy shop, so make sure you stop by Sketchy Thursdays to see the prize and read all the deets on the shop.

This page I made is about my son's expectation that if we're in the mall, he will be getting a quarter to ride the rides. It's not a trip to the mall without all the things that make it fun for kids... the carousel, quarter rides, ice cream, the escalator... you know, the usual.

Make sure you scoot on over to Sketchy Thursdays, we'd love to see what you create with this week's sketch!! And thanks for stopping by here today, I really appreciate it!!

Supplies: Jillibean Soup (pp & die cuts), American crafts (Thickers & Flair), Studio Calico (faux wood veneer stickers & packaging as pp), Little Yellow Bicycle (journal spot), Making Memories (mini letter stickers)

good things on the way...

Hey everyone! I haven't been able to post much here the past few days. Everything I'm working on is for a reveal, a DT commitment or something along those lines.

What I will tell you is that there's some cool opportunities on the way to you soon. There will be chances in April to win lots of goodies. Speaking of, did you know my bloggiversary is April 21st? Just sayin'... there may be some goodies here. Maybe some giveaways. Maybe... :)

Today I'm sharing a sneak for a reveal next week. This is a snippet of my new favorite page from a sketch made by the talented Ms. Heidi. I am so excited to share this one!!

Stop by tomorrow for Sketchy Thursdays! See ya then. (Eh, this was supposed to be a Wordless Wednesday... ha! I think I've proven I stink at the "wordless" thing! lol.)

my mom gave me this gift

My mom taught me the basics that go with crafting. She instilled in me at a young age that working with your hands and creating from scratch is fulfilling, fun and something to be proud of. She also taught me that if you have a talent—a gift—you should share it.

As the oldest of my siblings, I passed on the love for art that my mom taught me to my brothers and sister. Most of us spent our allowance on art supplies. Mom and I even made my homecoming dress when I was a sophomore. We were a crafty household that enjoyed creating and working with our hands—and I am convinced Mom had everything to do with that.

So, here is my THANKS, MOM! crafty page. I really enjoyed making this, though I found it tough to not go overboard. I have acquired many of the new stamp sets, papers, chipboards and embellishments that are sewing and crafting themed. It was not easy to decided what to use and what to save for another page.

Sketchy Thursdays has another Second Chance Challenge for you today! Kelly Marie, the founder of Lawn Fawn stamps has partnered with us to bring you this challenge.

I used the Lawn Fawn Sew Lovely stamps. I used the button and flowered circle as a make-it-yourself pattern near the top of the page. I also used the spool of thread stamp as an embellishment and cut them out of white paper. (The prize for playing also happens to be this stamp set, yahoo!!!)

One thing I just have to say about these stamps... they come clean so easily and do not stain. They are awesome to use, don't wobble at all when you press down onto the paper, and come in this really sturdy fold-over package thing... hard to describe, but it's perfect!

If you have a chance to play along with us, head on over to the Sketchy Thursdays blog today. Check out the sketch that the lovely Heidi has made for you (yup... Heidi is a regular sketch maker now!!), and play along for the prize from Lawn Fawn.

Thanks for stopping by today! If you are enjoying the Easter weekend... Happy Easter to you and yours! My husband actually has today and tomorrow off from work, so I am quite excited! He never gets holidays off, but this one just fell this way in his rotation. YAY!

Don't forget to eat chocolate for breakfast! It's the only day you can!

Supplies: Fancy Pants (pp), Cosmo Cricket (pp), Lawn Fawn (stamping), October Road (pp as border & letter stickers), Maya Road (pins & dress form chipboard), fabric, string, sewing pattern

digi mag news!

I am so excited! Yesterday the April/May issue of Ready, Set, Create magazine was released to the public. And I'm on page 188!!!

My new friend, Corey, contacted me a few months ago about writing an article on how Sketchy Thursdays was started. She also asked me to make a custom Sketchy Thursdays sketch for the RSC design team to work with. Of course I said yes! And they even published the sample page I did that went with the sketch! That made my day!!!

Are you a die-hard Sketchy Thursdays fan? Can you not believe there is a sketch out there that you don't have? Well, you're gonna have to buy this magazine to see it! The RSC team did a fabulous job with the sketch.

Here is the LINK to where you can get your copy of Ready, Set, Create! Also, fan them on Facebook and browse around their community.

Thanks again, Corey!!! :)

sketchy thursdays and some paislee...

... Pink Paislee that it! I managed to get my hands on the Queen Bee line before I finished gathering all of the pieces to the 365 Degrees line. If you remember, I had won the 365 Degrees papers during the CHA blog contests they had, but I wanted to get the rest of the line before I used the papers.

My pre-order with an online store has not turned out to be the best idea. Weeks after I ordered there, I was able to get the Queen Bee line from another online retailer quite quickly. So here I am, blathering on... loving the Queen Bee line... and waiting patiently for my turn in the pre-order line to get my 365 Degrees goodies.

This page is, of course, for the Sketchy Thursdays reveal today. The next sketch has been posted and the new DT knocked it outta the park! You have to swing by there today and see how everyone did, they definitely did not disappoint with their first challenge!!

This week's sponsor is Kiki Art. I'm sure you've heard of them even if you haven't managed to get your hands on any of their papers and such yet, but now you can!!! One lucky, random winner will get a prize pack from Kiki Art. So, head on over to Sketchy Thursdays, see the sketch, love all over the new DT, and plot your project for your chance to win!

Thanks for visiting today!!!
