New baby girl card

I have a cute baby girl card to share with you this morning. A friend of mine had a sweet baby girl, Olivia (great name, right?!), and this card is on its way to her. The mommy of sweet Olivia is a crafter, so I'm sure she's going to love this.

The background paper on this is from Basic Grey Curio. I just love these papers. I know not everyone likes the Curio line, but I personally can't get enough of it.

I made this card using the MFT Wednesday challenge, Sketch #4.

Hope your Monday is going well!

Making OLW tangible

If you read my OLW post you know my word for 2011 is HAPPY. I recently ordered and have now received this happy little "happy" print. *grin*

What have you done to make your OLW tangible? Can you see it every day?

I'm glad I did this. The finished version matted and in a white frame is in my bedroom. It looks fabulous! If you're interested in more work from this artist, you can find her shop HERE.

Have a great weekend!!

Dress-up on a Thursday

Sketchy Thursdays is live with the next sketch. Wow, these weeks just fly by, don't they?! I hope you'll stop by there to see the sketch Heidi made for us this week. The Sampler is giving away one pretty fabulous kit to the winner. And I can vouch for the fact that their kits are pretty fab!!

This page is another one of my holiday layouts. Nate asked Santa for an Optimus Prime costume, and of course Santa answered his wishes. The journaling is just a little bit about how great his imagination his and how much he loves costumes right now.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I hope to see you over at Sketchy Thursdays to see the sketch and check out the generous prize from The Sampler.

Workspace Wednesday

I'm pretty sure Workspace Wednesday is supposed to be your desk and all it's mess, but I don't think I've shared picture of my constantly evolving workspace in quite some time. This room is one of the spare bedrooms in our home that I claimed for myself.

This is also Nate's space, as you can see his tiny table and easel are in here, too.

Thanks for stopping by to see my workspace. This is where you can find me most evenings, so picture me perched in my green chair next time we're chatting or texting on any given evening.
Thanks, Julie, for adding me to this wonderful list of amazing scrappers! Can't wait to get to work!!

A family layout

Here is one of my most favorite pages—and I'm sharing it today over at the Flamingo Scraps blog. The vast majority of these products can be purchased at the Flamingo Scraps store, so hop on over there for more details about the products I used and a link to the store.

You may be wondering why my darling husband is in uniform in this picture. He had to work on Christmas Eve, but managed to still swing by the family celebration long enough for a quick bite of food and to pose for our annual family picture in front of his cousin's totally crazy large tree.

I absolutely love the Basic Grey Curio line. LOVE! I cringed when I cut into the paper. It's the kind of paper that I would frame just for the colors and patterns in it. I can always buy more, though, right?!

One of the best things about this page is how great the snowflakes, flourishes and flowers all look together. I wanted to convey the "holiday feel" with the snowflakes and windy-like flourishes, but couldn't resist using the Curio pre-made flowers with a mix of handmade flowers using the Curio papers and brads. Skeptical at first at my thought process on this, I am so happy with the end result.

I also wanted to note that I used Sketch #39 at Sketchabilities. You can see the sketch here if you'd like to use it as well.

Thanks for stopping by to see my page!!

A pretty card

Here's a pretty little card I made using the Basic Grey Curio line... which I think is just way too pretty to even cut. I had this collection for nearly a month before I cut into it. Just ones of those lines, know what I mean?

And the lovely little girl is Mae from Some Odd Girl. You can find the image for sale HERE.

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

"Santa!!! I know him!!"

I know some people may be so over all of the holiday stuff, but... well... I took a lot of pictures and I need to start documenting the actual Christmas Eve and Christmas Day activities. So bear with me. :)

This page is made with the current Sketchy Thursdays sketch created by the fabulous Heidi. And this week we also have a great kit from Coordinates Collections to give away. Trust me... you wanna check it out!!

To be honest, I have a difficult time with choosing my titles. I never know what to put. How long it should or shouldn't be. Or sometimes even what font to use. There are just too many choices!!

Julie at These Are a Few of My Favorite Things made it super easy for me this time. The latest challenge is to use your favorite quote. I have quite a few personal quotes, but I couldn't help using my favorite HOLIDAY quote for this page.

I absolutely love the movie ELF. Hubby and I watch it a lot during the holidays and now Nate is in on it too. The line, "SANTA!!! I know him!!!" is often heard around our house during the holidays.

And for this page... it made total sense because honestly, we DO know Santa! At least this Santa. It is family friend, Kevin, who visits cousin Deb's & John's house every Christmas Eve with Hershey bars and candy canes in hand for all of the kids (old and young alike). It makes for a magical evening.

Join in the fun! Stop by Sketchy Thursdays and make a page using this week's sketch for a chance to win the kit up for grabs from Coordinates Collections. And while you're at it... throw a quote on the page and link up to the TAAFOMFT blog.

Have a wonderful Friday everyone!!

A "playing along" post

Pardon my double post for the day.... I have some challenges to play along with!

This cutie little card uses Sketch 98 from Card Patterns and is also for the Color Pride challenge at Some Odd Girl for their anniversary week.

Below is the 1 Digi 3 Different Ways challenge for the Some Odd Girl anniversary week. I really wish I had a little girl's birthday party to throw because this set is so stinkin' cute! Any little girls need a birthday party set? I have one here for ya! :)

The image is this month's freebie, Star Bright Tia.

And the most recent challenge at Some Odd Girl is to get your kids involved. Nate is a huge Tobie fan. He refers to him like everyone knows who he is. It's funny to hear him talk like Tobie is Elmo. (One day, Kristy... one day, right?! A SOG coloring book is surely around the corner, right?!)

Nate made a bookmark for the Kids Challenge.

I absolutely love how Nate adds shadows to the edges of his images. He even calls them shadows.

Thank you for reading my double post for today. I've had so much fun playing these challenges, maybe you can, too! Hope to see you over at the SOG or Card Patterns sites.

The Sampler sketch challenge

I like everything I've made using the Bright New Year kit from The Sampler for January... but I LLOOOVVEEE this page! It is very unlike me. It's inky and stamp-y and Stickle-y and it's just fabulous. I think I was channeling my bloggy friend, Lisa's, energy. She always rocks the artsy pages.

This page is made using the sketch challenge at The Sampler. I hope you'll join us over there for the inspiration!! It's a quick and simple sketch, hopefully it'll get you in the mood to create something.

Visit the rest of the team's blogs to see what they made using the sketch!

Love for the Odd Girl...

Some of you know I haven't been feeling well lately, so you may think I made this card for myself. :) I actually made this for a friend who has a friend that recently had surgery. So, she is the recipient of this card... but it did brighten my day when I made it.

Though, I was still healthy at the time I made this card. Nevertheless....

I used Tiny Tia from Some Odd Girl for this card. 'Aint she a cutie!?

And, I want to let you all know that Some Odd Girl is celebrating their one year anniversary this week with lots of challenges and blog hoppy fun. I do hope you'll stop over there. I hope I can shake my flu-like symptoms very soon so I can play along with them.

Have a nice Wednesday everyone!!

Home Tweet Home

Happy Monday! Here's a simple card for you today. I haven't been feeling 100% lately, so this is gonna be a fast post. I wanted to still share something with you, though, because I have been super busy creating the past week. Lots coming your way soon!!

I won a copy of the Hero Arts 2011 Catalog on Twitter and they were nice enough to also include this wreath stamp with the catalog. Of course, I had to use it right away! :) And I love me some birdies.

I hope everyone is having a fab Monday! Thanks for swinging by here today!!

The sky's the limit

I'm playing along with Cath at Moxie Fab again. This week's Tuesday Trigger is called Bright Spot. It was the perfect inspiration for the congrats card I needed to make this week.

This is a picture of the Tuesday Trigger if you'd like to play along, too. Link to the challenge HERE.

I hope everyone's Sunday is going well!! Thanks for stopping in!!

Lovely silhouette card

If you saw my blog post yesterday, you know I'm really into silhouettes right now. Here's a lovely card I made to go with the frames from the previous post. I also seem to be on a "Nesties + Ribbon + Trinket pin = Card" kick right now, too. I can't seem to shake this formula.

I have been hoarding and absolutely love the Lush collection from My Mind's Eye. Every little scrap gets saved. It's even the paper I ended up framing to put in my master bathroom as artwork. These papers have amazing colors and patterns that I find myself drawn to for elegant projects. I absolutely love the blue collection.

Thanks for stopping to see my card today! I'm on a card kick right now, so bear with me. I might not have too many layouts to share with you, but I hope you like the variety I share here.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

Silhouettes in style

I was asked by Robin at La Bella Mela to make a few framed silhouettes for the shop, and I happily agreed. Now, the tough part is that she asked me in late October and it was nearly January by the time I did these. The worst part was finding the frames.

You can't just put these in a square or rectangle everyday frame, they need to be more ornate. And oval would be the best, but proved to be even more difficult to find.

I ended up quite happy with these. I used either Webster's Pages or Pink Paislee for my background papers and the silhouettes are cut from the Heritage Cricut cartridge.

Unless they have been given a good home already, these are for sale at La Bella Mela in Brockport, NY. Thanks for stopping to see my projects today!!

Sketchy Thursdays and The Sampler

Sketchy Thursdays has the next sketch for you to play along with. I do hope you'll join us this week!!

I was reading a thread on 2Peas that reminded me about doing 8.5" x 11" pages. I used to do these a lot more frequently and usually love the end result.

I used my January kit from The Sampler for this page. I have to tell you that there is a tube of Stickles in the kit, and I am so not used to working with Stickles. One of the benefits of being part of a kit club is that it forces you to go outside of your comfort zone. There is always the chance you'll be sent something you'd never try on your own. And I like that part of kit clubs.

What I did was put the stickles on my finger and dab the glitter on my background page. It created the "Christmas sparkle" that I was looking for, since this page does have a holiday theme to it. Not sure if that's what you would do with Stickles, but it worked well for me! :)

Thanks for stopping by to read my blog. I hope you'll stop by Sketchy Thursdays and play along. We have a great prize from Scrappy Jo's this week!!

Nothing says marriage like gold embossing

I'm sharing an engagement card with you today. I used the wedding stamp set from American Crafts for the image and the sentiment. Stamped with Versamark and embossed in gold, it looks so pretty and elegant up-close.

Thanks for stopping in today! I hope you've been enjoying the cards these past few days!!

Pajamarama anyone?!

I'm so excited to be starting my new DT responsibilities for The Sampler at ScrapbookingSuppliesRUs.com. Today I have my first blog post on the site, and I'm also sharing this page with the readers of that blog.

The January kit, "A Bright New Year," is chock full of variety. There are great new papers as well as fan favorites from 2010. I have always been a big fan of this number paper from Jillibean Soup. And these new Thickers are fabulous!!! I will need about 3 more sets for sure! (I used all the As in this one title, LOL!!)

These pictures are from my son's most favorite thing to do—go to Pajamarama. He and his best friend, Andrew, look forward to it every month. One Wednesday night each month the library hosts the kiddos for stories, snacks, games, crafts and songs. Yep... all of those in one night! And the kids wear their jammies. It is a hoot!

This kit was perfect to show off the playfulness of the event.

Thanks for stopping by today to share my new 2011 adventure with The Sampler! I hope you'll follow the blog over there and see what the rest of the designers do with this kit. :)

Cutie girl card

Oh my, I can't even tell you how much I love this little stamp! This girl is from the Pure Innocence collection at My Favorite Things. I've seen her popping up all over, and with my Christmas gift card I scooped her up, along with a die & stamp set, paper and other stamps.

And here are the Copics that I used to color her in. I'm still working on creating depth and shadows with these markers, but all-in-all I'm happy with at the very least the smooth finish they create. No streaks or lines... and right now that's good enough for me!

Thanks for stopping by the blog to see my card! Have a wonderful week!!

Thinking of you...

I'm playing along with Card Patterns: Sketch 97 for the first time. I've recently been hopping all over Blogland looking for new card sketches and card challenge sites. And I'm glad I found this one. It looks like a nice place to play. :)

This pretty card is going to my friend Renee who is sending it off to a friend of hers.

Wanna know a secret about this card?! I bought this little My Favorite Things stamp for the intent of putting balloons in her hand, and know what?! I do not have a balloon on any of the Cricut Carts I have nor do I have a stamp or a punch?

How on Earth has that happened? So, I improvised and used American Crafts felt eggs from a old spring set and put 'em upside down! Víola! Instant balloons!! But you do know that I am now on the hunt for a balloon punch, of course!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend and see ya'll for the start of the week tomorrow!!
